Lisa Harewood

Lisa Harewood has been with the NCCD since July of 2009.  After receiving her undergraduate degree in Biology from Norfolk State University, she went on to receive her Master's in Biomedical Sciences from Eastern Virginia Medical School and her PA/Master's in Health Sciences from Duke University.  Lisa then practiced internal medicine for four years, two of which were spent specializing in family medicine.  She has six years of experience in dermatology, making her a great fit for the practice.

Lisa enjoys the closeness that comes from being part of a small practice, where she can build strong relationships with both the other employees and her patients.  She was also drawn to Dr. Scales' practice because of his strong emphasis on pediatric care.  In her office, she treats a wide variety of issues, from skin problems such as acne and psoriasis to hair loss, a prevalent issue in the African American community.

When not in the office, Lisa relishes her time spent with her family, which includes her husband and their three boys, aged 1, 8, and 12.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading and going to the movies.

Tarsha Rivens

Tarsha Rivens received her bachelor's degree in Pre-med from St. Augustine in Raleigh, NC and her Master's in Physician's Assistant Studies from Eastern Carolina University.  After working in a pediatric practice, she chose to join Dr. Scales' practice in 2007 to focus on dermatology.

The NCCD is a perfect fit for Tarsha, who entered the industry because of a desire to help people. She values interacting with patients and hearing their stories, something that being in a small practice allows her to do on a regular basis.  In this clinic, every employee's actions are done with the customer in mind, and building close knit relationships is an extremely important part of that.  Tarsha was also drawn to the fact that the office focuses on minority dermatology, which has a unique patient type with needs different from the general population's.

Tarsha enjoys hiking on vacations, reading, new adventures of all types, and going to church.
